John Lennon for English Laundry

Christopher Wicks was the original creator of all things English Laundry, born in Manchester England in his early  years

found solace sketching shirts and of all things guitars. Wicks obsessed with fashion and music is evident in the unique and distinctive designs in the English Laundry/John  Lennon sportswear collections.

Steve Kelly (Zacar Wholesale) released the  English Laundry brand into Australia in 2003 (also born in Manchester UK) and within twelve months became Myers number one selling Menswear shirt brand,  after a successful three years Zacar felt the time had arrived to move away from the major dept stores to build the brand with independent retailers around the country.

English Laundry is the cleaner of the two brands on  offer, more traditional plaids and stripes to the gentleman who wants a different shirt without been over the top, hidden trims, pearl buttons, taping through the front plackets are the features of the E.L. shirt.

John Lennon for English Laundry….”The Sleeping Giant.”

This is the second season Australian retailers have seen the style, art and lyrics of John Lennon. Embracing the vintage paisleys and plaids and prints John wore in the 60s, each shirt has the distinctive Lennon embroidered caricature. With the success of Lennon shirt sales in Australia J.L. is  now becoming 70% of our collections. Keep in mind you dont have to be a “Rock Star” to wear a Lennon for EL shirt, same fit as the traditional Laundry shirt…. just a great vintage shirt look. We have now introduced the Lennon art on tees to complement the collection.

Zacar currently has stock of Winter 12 shirts and a stock service jean (2 washes), our Summer 13 collection consists of 5 styles per month from July-November, each month has a colour combo with a feel that the retailer can buy the shirts and tell a different story on a rack each month. Dress shorts are offered from Oct onwards which are designed to complement the shirt collection, with the addition of a trousers coming to the brand shortly
